Scenario

You are
part of an engineering design team called Angel Engineering Ltd who is
manufacturing different types of engineering products including bearings,
shafts, DC generators and rotor blades. You have been asked to interpret
engineering drawings and standards and present your findings to a group of
engineers who are visiting from a partnering company. This is a weekly job
which you have to do and requires a lot of preciseness.  

 
Task 1,
part A
 
Engineers use information sources when designing, manufacturing and
testing products. It is very important to have a strategy for effective
searching and for establishing that, when found, data is valid and correct.
The table below and overleaf lists typical information that engineers
work with. Complete it, or one that is more specific to your area of study,

This criterion is about

(or not) of other people’s work as a
source of information. You need to identify both computer-based (eg inter/intranet, CD ROM-based information) and non-computer-based (eg books, technical

To achieve this merit criterion, you are required to evaluate an ICT software package and its
tools for the preparation and presentation of information. You need to
take time to reflect on your work and
consider the use of software tools available (for example good/consistent
use of font size/ colour, alignment of text, positioning on the page, use of
automated labels, legends and titles for graphs).
Examples of software packages are: word processing; drawing, data handling and
processing eg database, spread sheet, presentation package, simulation
package and communication eg email, fax.
